SEQURE SECRETS: A-Z OF LIVING IN VILLAMARTIN

Starting life as a small development in 1972, Villamartín is now a thriving hub for golf and sun lovers alike, with many of the British and Scandinavian population flocking to the area each winter for some well-needed sun. It is also an attractive option for prospective buyers, with guaranteed good weather and property prices relatively lower than other coastlines. As our office is in the area, and the fact that we know it like the back of our hands, we thought we’d create an A-Z of Villamartín so you can appreciate this beautiful piece of Spain just as much as we do:  

A- Autopista del Mediterráneo 

The Autopista del Mediterráneo or AP-7 provides easy access from Alicante and San Javier airports, which are both within an hour of the urbanisation. 

B- Banks in the town plaza 

Villamartín Plaza offers a range of banks including; BBVA,  Caixa and HiFX exchange transfer service, so you really don’t have to travel far to sort out your money.   

C- Campo de Golf Villamartín 

Possibly one of the main attractions of the urbanisation is the world-class golf course which hosts the Mediterranean open.

D- Dog walking 

If you’re moving abroad with your furry companion, Villamartín is a perfect location for dog walking. Just less than 5km from the coast, the more adventurous can do a round trip on a summer’s morning, or simply stroll around the outskirts of the golf course itself. 

E- El Limonar International School, Villamartín

This is the international school in the area, educating children from 3-18. They accept children of all nationalities, however the majority are either British or Spanish. 

F- Fitness Centre, OK Gym

1km from the centre of Villamartín urbanisation is OK Gym, a great facility open 9am-9pm most weekdays and 10am-2pm on Saturdays. 

G- Gin & Fizz

With over 100 gins to choose from, Gin & Fizz is a great new addition to the Villamartín Plaza, offering a chilled atmosphere and superb cocktails. 

H- Hospital de Torrevieja, 

Villamartín is well located just a 14-minute drive from the local hospital 

I- Interim - vegetarian and gluten free restaurant  

For those with certain dietary requirements, or who simply want a fantastic meal in a great setting, Interim in the nearby Villacosta might be a wise choice, the wide variety of food on offer won’t disappoint.

J- July and August, the hottest months of the year

In the summer months, temperatures can reach the mid-30s, which is a dream for the sun-worshippers. Remember to stay well-hydrated and covered up during the hottest parts of the day!

K- Kayak Sport, just 45 mins from Villamartin

For the more adventurous and lovers of the outdoors, Kayak Sport, is a great outdoors store offering high quality kayaks and sports equipment, ideal for water sports, particularly in the shallow waters of the Mar Menor.

L- La Zenia Boulevard 

Is a huge shopping centre, located just a 7-minute drive from Villamartin and offers around 150 shops and over 5,000 free parking spaces, making it a great day out for the whole family. You’ll find plenty of high-street shops, restaurants and supermarkets in the centre, and it’s a popular option for everyone in the area. 

M- Mercadona, Aldi and Los Dolces supermarkets 

There are plenty of supermarkets close by to Villamartín. Mercadona is just a 6-minute drive from the town plaza.

N- Nightclubs; Sala Passion

For the party lovers, Sala Passion is a great little club located in the town plaza. 

O- Our Office

P- Petrol stations- BP in La Zenia and Cepsa, Easygas and Eroski in Punta Prima

Being located just minutes from the motorway, Villamartín is close to multiple petrol stations -no need to worry about running out in the middle of nowhere!

Q- Quintessential blue flag beaches 

Whilst Villamartín is slightly inland, it’s still only a short drive to local beaches, as they’re much quieter than other popular beaches throughout the year. The Costa Blanca is home to some of the best Blue Flag beaches in the country. Popular nearby “playas” include; Playa la Zenia and Playa de Cabo Roig, with a fabulous little marina. 

R- Ring Neck Parrots 

In the centre of Villamartín Plaza is a host of tropical pants and palm trees which are home to some intriguing guests, African Ring Neck Parrots. These beautiful additions to the plaza have gained celebrity status and of course have helped to boost the popularity of the area over the years. 

S- Sanydent Villamartin dentist and Dental Happiness 

Located in the centre of Villamartín, Sanydent is a good option for those wanting to register with a local dentist. 

T- Torrevieja is close by 

Close by is the popular town of Torrevieja. The city is not just famous for its sun, sea and sand, Torrevieja also hosts a variety of fiestas, including the Habaneras festival in August and many more cultural celebrations. Explore the picturesque Park of Nations that features tranquil tropical gardens, lakes and fountains, or take a stroll down to the coast and enjoy the stunning white sandy beaches of Playa del Cura, Playa El Acequion or Playa de los Locos.

U- Urbanizations close by, within walking distance to everywhere  

Various urbanizations make up this popular part of South Costa Blanca, including Villamartín itself, VillaCosta, La Zenia, Playa Flamenca, Cabo Roig and Punta Prima.

V- Villamartín Plaza

The heart and sole of the urbanisation is Villamartin Plaza, a lovely square which is home to plenty of bars, shops and restaurants as well as other local amenities. 

W- Walking routes

Villamartín and the surrounding areas are great for walking. Despite being slightly inland, local amenities are easily accessible and just a short drive away residents can reach the coast or Torrevieja’s famous salt lakes. Click here for some fantastic walking routes.  

X- Xtreme Experience, Orihuela Costa

If you fancy a colourful adventure day out, Xtreme Experience on the Orihuela Costa offers paintballing packages to suit all ages and abilities. 

Y- Yacht Club Cabo Roig

Why not check out the local yacht club in Cabo Roig, a chance to try something new and meet like-minded friends along the way. 

Z- Zumba classes at CDM sports complex 

Yes, this fitness craze has also taken over Spain, and you can keep fit and have a good old dance at the local fitness centre, CDM Sports Complex, located on Calle Niagara, 23, 03189 Orihuela.
